Who wants to find me a small place to stay?

Post by Xislandgirl »

This is for an unknown date. Off season. we just need something small w/ a pool. No condos or apartments. Location not that important, either side of the island is fine. Prefer some view. Really like cheap.

I was looking at Periwinkle or Stone Cottage.

Any other inexpensive places?

what about Perelandra? I think it is $1750 in off season. They are also on VRBO.com and you can deal directly with owner.

Hey X

What do you call "inexpensive" - give us a range and I will check my "pegged" files and how many bedrooms or is it just for you :)

Here is a few that comes to mind - but I have only seen Blue Palm in person.

I am hoping around $1700 for the 2 of us. It will just be me and Chip. It may be just me and in that case, I will probably just crash with someone, 2 of my old bosses offered me their couches.

I guess I could live with out the pool, that would drop it down a lot.

I ended up going with no pool when I was making reservations. I think it would be more important when there's a bigger group but then again, what do I know? There are so many more people here with more experience (all I have is my research) that I don't know if I could help.

Try Meritage Cottage from www.acharminghideaway.com. We stay here almost every year and love the place. It's a studio type cottage ~ kitchen, living room, kig bed all in one and a seperate room for the bath. It's located in Chocolate Hole right past the Westin so it's close to town. No pool but it does have a hot tub and really nice view. I believe the rate is $1500 off season. It's a perfect little honeymoon/romantic type place!

I believe $1750 is what we're getting Cielo Vista for, for a week in October. [Edit - yes, that's the offseason rate]

And although I haven't been there yet, it does have a pool and I'm told the view is to die for - it's on Gift Hill Rd.

What about this place? You could walk to the Westin from here--(do they have daypasses for their pool?):

Look at this site, they have a bunch of places in your price range, with pools:

Editing to add one more, I have been looking at this place for a couple of years, and it looks great! You can rent the ridge or the cottage, or the whole thing, and the ridge and cottage are quite seperate from each other. The ridge is slightly over your range but has the pool. The cottage is in your range and has a hot tub:

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

This is in Skytop, so it has 180 degree view that is awesome, and a beautiful pool. It was $2100 this off season. Kathy McLaughlin is a great host.

Our daughter stayed at Viewtiful through Private homes( referenced in another post) and she loved it. Up on Bordeaux, not too difficult to access, pool jacuzzi and she said the views were super.

Looks like you have some great options! I don't know how you feel about a shared pool, but it's one way to get a pool for a lower price. Here are a few that I've ogled online (some with shared pool; some with private pool):

The guest cottage at Carnival Beach house looks very nice; $1575; shared pool; waterfront at Klein Bay

Bay House is $1950 off season; Coral Bay:

Happy Moon; $1600 off season; Ajax Peak

Wood Rose cottage has a shared pool and private hot tub; $1600 off season

La Barracuda has a guest cottage that rents separately from the main villa; shared pool and hot tub

Although not a private villa, Mahogany Tree Villas is a great place. Broken into 4 villas, shared pool, walking distance to Cruz Bay. Accomodations are basic (but charming), and the price is great.

Stoneharbor

We've stayed in Stoneharbor in Coral Bay and are staying there again in a month. Off-season rate is $1350 and in-season is $1650. Nothing fancy, but a nice pool, air conditioning in the bedroom, a view over Coral Bay and stumbling distance to Aqua Bistro and Island Blues.
