Breakfast and a visit to the studio have been on my STJ to-do list for years. Sounds like I better make a point to do it in February. I still question the feasibility of multi-unit development on that parcel, the infrastructure costs would be out of this world.

I'm really curios to see what gets built at Maho Bay. I've stayed at the camps and that is one steep hill.

Also, Does Concordia now have it's own path to Salt Pond Bay? We stayed there years ago and we were never informed of one. Is this new? I saw something mentioned on their website recently about their own path to Salt Pond near the new Pavilion. When we stayed there, there was only path that we knew of down to the rugged coastline on the left (not sure what that area is called).

If so, what is the new (or old) path to Salt Pond Bay like? Steep or rugged? Reasonable?

the path is not so bad-- it brings you in near the newer apartments/condo things by the store/driveway-- it is about midway ( a bit more?) up the path from salt pond...and it's a nice walk.

i have to say , i am really, really , REALLY bummed about the prospect of anything else in there....(and of Maho going away) -- peter bay was a steep hill down too, right? the campground was a good neighbor from what i can tell-- unobtrusive and a good fit..... we love concordia as well, but the idea of no maho camp and a upscale development there-- well yuck. sorry--
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

Tragedy. SJ loses a magical place unlike anything.

Times like this make me wish I had the knowledge to be a grass roots fundraiser. People do it all the time, find a cause and raise huge money for it, but with 2 full time jobs, there is just no time for it in my world.

I have never stayed at Maho but it is PART of the island. It is not just a resort, it is something that you think of when you think of STJ.

I really wish that there was something that could be done to preserve it.
