Can't Miss restaurants

Post by Harpersmom8910 »

I'm leaving in a week it's been 5 years since I've been to St John what are the can't miss restaurants ? We enjoyed Ocean Grill, banana deck, beach bar, deli grotto, skinny legs, and Lime Inn in the past. We probably want to do one expensive dinner and the other nights probably around $20 a person not including beverages.

La Plancha del Mar

In Coral Bay area:

Looking forward to dining at these and probably a few others in a couple of weeks!

Last year our favorites in Cruz Bay were Rhumb Lines and High Tide, but we didn't eat over there a lot. In Cruz Bay we loved Aqua Bistro! We are looking forward to going there in about 3 weeks. I'm looking forwar to trying Tourist Trap, too, as well as revisiting some places we missed last year. I'll be watching to see reccomendations!

Unfortunately Lime Inn has recently slipped from our list of favorites. We felt it had been going downhill for a few years and after our experience last year we will probably only go there for drinks when we're on STJ next month. They still make a mean strawberry shortcake (mixed drink).

Our "don't miss" places are Banana Deck, Rhumblines, and Cafe Roma. We also like to go to Maho Bay on Friday nights for prime rib.
Let us live so that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.

Along with the other suggestions we would also recommend the Fatty Crab.

jwwj, what night is curry night? We ate at Sweet Plantains last year and it was one of our least favorite and most expensive meals. We tend to prefer more casual. We did think it was very unique, though, and we had a delicious Rum Martini.

Friday and Saturday are curry nights at Sweet Plantains. Here is their website with the different themes listed. http://www.sweetplantains-stjohn.com/dinner.htm We really like curries and really enjoyed the spicy red curry and the coconut curry. I have read a lot of mixed reviews of the restaurant and yes it is pricey.

We just loved Ekaete Pink Corner at the triangle in Coral Bay. Very reasonable prices, great food and great hostess/cook/owner. They've been closed for awhile, after a car accident, but someone let me know they were open just recently!
We also love Candi's Ribs near Starfish market.
