Day Six - My Darling Daughter's Walk of Woe

Day Six - My Darling Daughter's Walk of Woe

My daughter had to leave today to attend a family event on her father's side in Florida. This made us all very sad, especially her. I admit to being a very proud mother because she was getting depressed on Wednesday about leaving and I offered to get her out of it and she declined. Much as she would have rather been on St. John (her favorite place) with us, she lived up to her obligation and made her lonely Walk of Woe. I don't know that I would have been able to do the same in her place! Here is a shot of her and I mugging it up.

I had to get her on the 11:00 to Red Hook to meet up with a family friend that was traveling to the same event. We enjoyed a last swim in the pool and off we went. I stopped in to say "hi" to Ruth and she told me I just missed Bug. She pointed me in the direction of some sunglasses, since I lost my prescription glasses earlier in the week! Darling daughter and I get in line for the ferry and the deluge begins. We were soaked by the time we got on and traveling to St. Thomas the entire island was covered in a shroud of rain so we couldn't see it until we were approaching the dock. Got off in the torrential rain to do the hand off, then waited under an eave until I dashed back into the rains to reboard the ferry back to St. John.

Headed back to the villa and rounded up the troops to head to the beach, quickly, since it looked like we had a break in the rain. Went to Hawksnest, which has always been my favorite.

Headed back to the villa for a dip in the pool. We decided we wanted something casual for dinner, so I tried calling the Banana Deck, but got no answer. We headed in to town but they were closed. We had a drink on the beach in front of the Beach Bar - what a lovely spot.

In search of a casual spot for dinner, we happened upon the Fish Trap. The food here got mixed reviews from our group. The California cousins loved the Crab Legs and the burger and chicken fingers got the big thumbs up. No one enjoyed the fish and chips and the two of us who ordered soup were more confused than anything else. My cousin ordered fish chowder and it really looked more like chili. I ordered potato and bacon soup and really, it looked a lot more like a mulligatawny stew. Neither were bad, just not expected. The fries were excellent. And, lo and behold, they had karaoke in the bar!! Who knew cousin Lisa was a star!

They had some great singers (and not so great of course) and we just had a blast here, singing and dancing.

We made our way over to the Quiet Mon for a drink because we hadn't been there. Had a drink on the deck and chatted with some nice people then made our way home to the villa.
