Day Five – Villa Gravity and Zozo’s for Dinner

Awoke to the sound of NO rain :D Everyone slept in a little, since there was no possibility of a boat trip today. Enjoyed early morning coffee in the pool with the sun shining on us. Ahh, life is good.

There was talk of going to the Westin because we thought the 2 teens would enjoy a jet ski ride. A call to the Westin determined that the jet skis were out of service. That was pretty much all this group needed to elect to have a Villa Day. (Kudos to the poster who coined the phrase "villa gravity"). Dare I say that this day was one of my favorites? The Golden Dragon is a lovely villa with beautiful amenities that it made it very difficult to leave (not to mention a KILLER flight of stairs to the car :x ). Someone joked that next year I need to search for a really crappy villa, with no AC and no pool so that we’d be more motivated to leave.

We had 6:00 reservations at Zozo’s so we headed out. Arrive a few minutes before 6 and head upstairs to the bar. I just love this place!

We started with a huge antipasto platter that had artichoke hearts, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, the most delicious mozzarella I have ever eaten, roasted red peppers, grilled shrimp, various Italian meats and olives. Someone had the lobster ravioli appetizer and a few people split salads – all just delicious! About half of had the Osso Bucco, which I confess is my all time favorite meal and the first time I ever had it was at Zozo’s. Melt in your mouth tender and sweet as candy, with perfectly prepared risotto and asparagus wrapped in prosciutto – yummy. Other dishes – the double cut pork chop with hot cherry pepper sauce; my cousin said the sauce was not too spicy and the meat itself was tender and delicious. The portion was huge – he ate the rest for lunch the next day. My brother had the Veal Porterhouse with mozzarella and tomato tampenade – and he did not even give me a bite :? Raves for the Rib Eye special and the Lobster Tail. Everyone was extremely happy with their meal and LOVED this place. I asked the waitress to bring over a chocolate lava cake for my friend Tom who had celebrated a birthday the week before and we sang a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday. Several more lava cakes were ordered and passed around the table. It was joy, joy, joy. I apologize for not having pictures of the food, but my battery died on my camera at this point. Once my cousins post their pics, I’ll post more photos, but I wanted to get the report down while things are still somewhat fresh in my mind.

Once again, an early, sated car headed back to the villa while a second car stayed in town. We headed to the Beach Bar where they had a great band playing kind of bluesy music (don’t recall the name). After a drink or two there, we needed something a little less mellow to help us digest so we headed to Woody’s and grabbed the outside table. Great time here once again.

As the humble creator of the "villa gravity" phrase, I can see why you experienced the syndrome. What a beautiful place! And loved your review of Zozo's, I'm looking forward to trying it on our next trip. Glad you had such a great time!

Yum, Zozos! I'm having dinner there in 18 days. Not that I am counting or anything.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
