Detailed map
my husband wants a detailed map. Is the best one the one from the national park service?
We think the Trail Bandit map is the best map. What kind of detail is your husband looking for?

Ha! That is entirely possible. We aren't big hikers, except to get to beaches. I would like to talk him into doing Ram's Head and Drunk Bay, though. We also haven't been to Salomon/Honeymoon. So what is the best map if you aren't huge hikers? They have a couple of maps: Trail Bandit, Franco's map of USVI, and a National Geographic Map, as well as an USVI atlas.

The map on trailbandit.org titled St. John map 2010 is the best that I have found. It is a topo map with trails and roads marked on it. I purchased a copy of St John Off the Beaten Path and recieved a trailbandit map with it. I forgot where I purchased it from. It was either here on VIOL or from Gerald Singers website.
As far as topographic discussions go, tell your husband that unless you are walking or driving along a beach you will be traveling either uphill or downhill. About the only flat spots on the island are at sea level.
