Vagirl-Trip Report, Part 2

Post by VaGirl »

Let's see, Monday was our first full day. Weather great this entire day. Headed out bright and early - after packing coolers, making lunch, snacks,so much to do before you even leave your house. This was Lisa's first trip to the island, so she wanted to see Cinnamon Bay/Trunk Bay. Went by there, too many cars already, so I decided Hawksnest would be our choice. It was beautiful, one of my favorites anyway. Not too many people and we spent most of the day there.

Headed back in, did the usual "search for parking", and then hurried down to St John Spice to say hello to Ruth and Ron - what delightful people! Ron was in the store, Ruth was upstairs, and when she heard me ask if she was there, she stopped what she was doing and came down. Told her we had missed everyone the night before at the Beach Bar, as it was so crowded when we got there. We got out of there as they were ready to go home, but made sure we got our Grill Rub first! This stuff is wonderful and I'm sure they'll be getting my order for more pretty soon. We headed to the Beach Bar, and about 3 Painkillers later, decided we'd better go home and eat. So many interesting people in this place - and I realize it's their job, but the bartenders are super!

Back home to grill some chicken - complete with Grill Rub - lazed around in our pool with our Cruzan Raspberry Rum and cranberry/blackberry juice...

Tuesday was one of my favorites...headed to Maho, only 2 other people when we arrived. Water calm, sky blue, another nice day. Couple of hours later we were joined by a group of 3-4 couples who must have thought they needed to be right up under our armpits. We said hello, no response...okay, that's fine..as the morning progressed, they got louder and louder; personally I could care less about their stock index, how much General Motors was making, how their portfolios looked...I looked at Lisa, said "let's roll" and we packed up and headed to Francis...it was a little crowded, but people at least weren't on top of each other. Plus some were beginning to leave. This is a beautiful place if you've never been here..took my obligatory afternoon nap, downed a couple more SJ Pale Ales.

Told Lisa I had something to show her so headed out and went on around to Annaberg ruins. We walked up to the top of the hill and I let her enjoy that view of the BVI's in the distance...takes your breath away. We did the touristy stuff up there, reading all the signs, then walked back down. I had never taken the trail over to Waterlemon, so I started that way. This was awesome, so glad we did this. It's a nice walk, but you see so many neat things along the way - beautiful coral, the little yellow birds (can't remember the name now), mongoose, oodles of crabs in their shells, flowers...we looked over about halfway down the trail and I swear it was so clear you you see Sandy Spit in the distance...beautiful. Plus the walk was good for me!

Back to town with the obligatory stop at Woody's..I had met Chad last trip but he wasn't there and the gals who were working were new to me. Still a great place to begin your evening. Back to the Beach Bar - can you detect a theme here??? I'm loving this place. On the way back to the villa, we stopped at Starfish as I was contemplating a new drink for the trip. Bought mango ice cream, added the raspberry rum, a touch of cola (don't ask me why), and blended with ice.......wow, a frozen drink to make your bells ring! More grilling, pasta salad from the deli, and lots and lots of my slushy drink! Nice way to end the day.

More later...

VA- You talked me into putting Annanberg Ruins on my "new thing to do" list next time!!! We always go to Waterlemon and park in the lot, but never make it up there.

That drink sounds awesome - kinda like the mango/raspberry cheesecake at Shipwreck :D

not to sound stupid but how do you walk to Waterlemon from Annanberg? We parked in the lot and then walked up the stairs. Then what?

Back down to the parking lot, follow the road to where it bears right and the trail starts there. It's got a marker.
