which villa

Post by neisyb »

We are planning our trip to St John and have narrowed the choices to these four villas: Summerwind, Estate Fortsberg, Ixora and Le Mer.
Anyone with experiences with any of these villas?
Thanks!

There are 4 couples going and actually these are the lesser expensive villas I could find.

Villa

We are waiting until about 4-6 weeks before our trip to book a villa so that we can take advantage of last minute discounts. We are going in Nov. 2012. There is a high probability that we will save a fair amount of money with this tactic.

we were at summerwind 4/4 to 4/11. loved her. great villa with good location, views & easy access. she's well equipped and stocked. but beware there are lots of steps (2 bedrooms are 2.5 flts of steps below the main level which is 1.5 flts of steps down from the parking lot). also the bedrooms are very unequal with master being twice as big as other 3 and 1 being next to the cistern and have to go thru to get to laundry room; very musty. we adjusted villa contribution for bedroom disparity and both couples very happy with villa.

ixora has been on my watch list for years. great location, views and floor plan just can't get pass no ac in bedrooms. however after stay at summerwind and at casa bueno (just above summerwind in aug 2009) when had ac BUT NEVER used, may give ixora a shot in future.
both ixora and summerwind have more central locations than the other 2 villas in my opinion. good luck.

We've stayed at Estate Fortsberg twice in the last three years. We loved it. The view is incredible and the house had everything that we needed and more. Each of the four bedrooms were the same size and all had great outdoor stone showers and AC units. The ride up to the house is fun but manageble with a four wheel drive vehicle. We found the dining area in the house to be tight but we ate all of our meals outside on the deck so it didn't make a big difference. Internet connection was good and our US Cellular service worked from the house and didn't pick up a BVI signal which was great. The kids enjoyed the pool, hottub and pingpong table on the downstairs deck. I would definitely rent the house again.

Are you thinking of La Mer in Coral Bay, this one:

There are a couple of different houses with la mer in their names. If it's this one, John and I rented it a few years ago. It has amazing views.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Yes, that is the one. I think we have narrowed the choice down to Estate Fortsberg or Ixora. I didn't realize the bedrooms at Ixora didn't have air. That might help us decide.
Thanks to everyone for all your responses!
