Another luggage question!!!!!!

We have to leave STT at 730 on the 31st and we have a 6.5hr layover in SanJuan. Does anyone know if there is a place to store our luggage so we can go to the beach or do some shopping in Old San Juan? I'm not even sure if our checked bag gets forwarded at this point as we leave Stt on AA and transfer to US Air from there. With these crazy flight costs this was the only one that was even thinkable and it was 829 each. From DTW. Any help would be great as I really don't want to spend 6.5 hrs in the airport if I don't have toooooo.

Did you buy both flights together? Like from Expedia/Orbitz. If so, your luggage should be checked all the way through but ask just to make sure.

If you purchased the flights seperately, just check in at the USAir counter right away and get rid of your bags.

Yes the flights were purchased together with hotwire. The ones in question are the carry-ons. I have been told there are no longer any lockers in any airports after 911. And due to the 6.5 layover I was asking if anyone knew of any lockers avail just otside the airport so we could see old San Juan and maybe some beach time without hauling these around. I am a little concerned about the checked bag though as I have called hotwire and they could not give me an answer on the transfer. I'm trying to get ahold of the airline now.
