Medical issues-advice needed

Post by PatrickMcc »

Our family is renting a villa in a few weeks and our 20 month old grandson will be with us. I know that the Myrah Keating clinic is open 24hrs a day. Does anyone know a doctor or pediatrician you could recommend. Our family had a medical emergency in Mexico two years ago (for an adult) and since we weren't prepared it was not a fun experience. After everything turned out ok we learned where we should have gone. Now we want to be ready. Thanks. :?:

Yes, the clinic is open 24/7 and they have doctors from the US. It is our experience that they can handle most situations. As we've seen, in major cases they quickly transfer to STT. And in STT they are known to tansfer patiens, when needed, to MIA.

If you are still uncomfortable, Diana is available to go with you. Ask the SOTB women. There is nothing like having your own nurse in the villa.
Man it's like some dream we live down here....

Yes they are open but call in advance 340-693-8900 as the doctor is on call after hours and on weekends so if you call before you head out they will be there close to when you arrive. They are very good :)

I understand Mexican medical emergencies.....not fun.

If you haven't already, I would definately get trip insurance that covers air ambulance/evacuation and transportation.

We just returned last night and our 20 month old grandson had to be seen at the Clinic on STJ. He received a liver transplant in July and my daughter couldn't have been happier with how great they were. My grandson's pediatrician sent all of his information to the hospital prior to them leaving for vacation "just in case".

all of us have ended up a the clinic at least once for some reason! I have had my kids there for treatment of ear infections, bad (really bad) respiratory infections, etc-- the care they received was always excellent.
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

I had the "pleasure" of receiving 12 stitches from Dr. Elizabeth Barrot at Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center back in 2010. It was really one of the best hospital visits I've ever had. As funny as that sounds...

Thanks everyone- you have given me a lot of confidence in the clinic and doctors there. Hopefully we will not have to use them.
