T&E trip report - Day 7 2/2/12
Day 7:
Hi all! I hope everyone is having a great week. We have had a FANTASTIC vacation so far. Today was a fun packed day again. Up and out the door by 9:00 am to pick our friends Sue and Ray up at the ferry dock. While we were waiting for them, I called my Mom and had her check the Spice Cam for me. She had me write "Hi Mom" in the sand, so if anyone saw that in the sand, it was me! We greeted them with Black Cherry/Lemonade shots, wearing big floppy hats. We then headed up to our villa, so we could show it to them, then off to the Coral Bay side to show them the island we love so much. We stopped at the top of the Bordeaux mountain for some pictures, then we went to Shipwreck Landing for lunch where conch fritters, mahi-mahi sandwiches, beef nachos and steak tip sandwich were on order for today, along with Presidente¡¦s all around (okay, I had my favorite black cherry and lemonade). After lunch we went to the shopping mecca at Skinny Legs, then went looking for the donkey's, which we saw none! Booo. Sue thinks I'm lying about the donkeys!
We head back down to our favorite beach Maho to spend the rest of the afternoon. I wanted so much for them to love STJ as much as we do. As we unpack and start our afternoon, I point out the turtles that are popping their heads in and out of the water and ask them if they want to go search for them, so off we go. I immediately see a squid and starfish, then the turtles. I think I've now seen the biggest turtle in Maho, man he was HUGE! A little more searching, another starfish, then I convince everyone to head over to the right for more snorkeling. Sue and Ray are a little apprehensive, but they go. It was murky towards shore, but the farther out we went the clearer it got. Sue's mask was fogging up, so she and Ray went back in, and Eric and I continued to snorkel. Well, I continued to snorkel, Eric continued to give me the stink eye, because all I had was my mask and snorkel, no floatation belt and no fins, and he thought I was going out too far, so to keep the peace, I start to go back. I had this big parrot fish following me everywhere I went. I'm hoping I got a good picture of him. I also saw a HUGE barracuda at the end of my snorkel, he had to have been at least 4 ft. long. More squid (more colorful too). This is the first vacation I've seen squid, and now I've seen them on every snorkel so far.
So, we are back on the beach and having a lovely time. Sue and Ray want to take the 4:00 pm ferry back to STT, so we pack up and head out around 3:00, so we can do a bit of shopping at Wharfside before they take off. Sue and I head up to St. John Spice, and St. Johnimals, and next thing I know, Ray is texting me telling us that we have to get back! C'mon, it's only 3:45! OH well, so we send them off. Eric and I aren¡¦t ready to head to the villa yet, so we stop at the Tap Room and get draft Root Beers.. YUM! Then we bring home Uncle Joe's BBQ for dinner. Yum again!
After dinner, we finishing watching our movie we started the night before, and it's time for rest. I'm going to read a little and just relax after a long and fun day.
Tomorrow is Salt Pond. I hope it's nice over there for a snorkel. This will be our last full day before we have to go home. Wow, did this go fast. I think I might have mentioned this once or twice.
Have a great day my forum friends, and I'm glad you are enjoying my trip reports. I'm enjoying writing them for you.

[/url]Glad you are having a good time. We just made our first trip last summer with our family and loved STJ but probably will not get back for another year or so. We did make it to Salt Pond and I have to say I loved that beach. Not sure if it was the weather or not but it was the clearest when we snorkeled. My husband was not thrilled with the walk back up the hill but he loved it too. Then you have to stop at Tourist Trap for lunch or a drink. Have fun!!! Oh, the snorkeling was very good at Salt Pond when we were there.
