T&E trip report - Day 2 1/28/12
Day 2:
I am in complete denial that I am getting sick. I started a few days before we left with a scratchy throat, so I started to really pile on the Airborne. Well, I didn’t sleep very well last night, was very restless, and this morning I woke up with the golf ball in my throat. UGH. Did I say “I am NOT sick”? We decided not go to to Maho, as it’s raining pretty hard off and on all morning, and we had our big Kekoa sail this afternoon. So, I decided to go back to bed for a little while. I woke up and was feeling better, so we went grocery shopping and up to Chelsea’s Drug Store, and I stocked up on Comtrex Day/Night formula, Mucinex and Kleenex! Got some lunch at Starfish, Eric has wanted to try their prepared food, as he is always seeing a huge line with the locals at the beginning of the line. He got some fish and rice and I got lasagna. I have to say, it was pretty good!
Get home, and it’s time for our Kekoa sail. We score a parking spot behind “Our Market”, (thanks again Pia for that little tidbit). It’s early, because we thought we would have a hard time finding someplace to park, so we go to our favorite place for Bushwackers, the Sun Dog
, they do not disappoint. We talked to the bartender and a few of the locals, then it’s off to the National Park ferry dock. After some payment and paperwork, we are introduced to Kekoa. Wow! What a boat… We start our sail with our Captain – Jamison (what a cutie I must say!) and his crew. This was an extended Sunset sail (or so we thought…) however, this was actually a concert by a new group out of South Carolina called Sol Driven Train. What a talented group of musicians. I do believe this is going to be the highlight of our trip. We had SUCH A GREAT TIME! We sailed off at around 3:00 pm, and did not get back until almost 8:00 pm. We met Russell, the saxophone player of the group. What a nice guy.
We had absolutely no clue what we were getting into with this sunset sail, and boy was it worth it. This cruise was a concert to promote this group, and they had so many people that follow them on this boat. It was absolutely a blast! We couldn’t have asked for a better evening. It was just gorgeous. The stars were out, the drinks were flowing, and everyone was dancing and having a wonderful time to this great band. They were actually also filming their music video for their new song that they are going to release, so who knows, we may actually end up in their final cut! I don’t think that even Pia knew what was happening on that boat tonight. I really felt that we were part of something very special. Jamison told me that he has never done anything like that before, but he had met these guys from the band, and wanted to help them out, so he offered for them to play for a night on his boat.
So we get back into STJ, and the sky just opened up as we were all departing. Okay, now I’m wet! We were thinking of grabbing some dinner somewhere, but now I look like a drowned rat, and chilled, so we head home to call it a night. Left over pizza from the night before is our dinner.
Definitely Maho tomorrow, and then to the Beach Bar in the afternoon, as Sol Driven Train is playing there, and we have become somewhat groupies of this band! Haha!
Having a great time... wish you all were here!

[/url]Whew.....I am breathing a huge sigh of relief
You are right I had no clue to the extent - I speak to Claire and Jamison many times and I was only told when I was checking on available sunsets sails for you that it was going to be an extended sunset with live music - a first time special event
I am soooo glad it worked out.
Sorry you aren't feeling well hopefully the drugs kicked in - if they don't maybe you should fix one of Les's famous "knickers off" margaritas - I would invite you over but as of tomorrow our deck comes off !!
Have fun today and hope to see you soon and looking forward to your next report.

Hi Tami (and Pia),
My husband is on island now and enjoyed this band at the Beach Bar on Friday night. He almost tried to make the boat trip but heard it was sold out. Too bad, sounds like a blast!! He will most likely be at the Beach Bar again tonight enjoying the music. Send me a PM if you'd like to meet up with him.
Enjoy - and hope you're feeling better!
