Sailing Day?

I'm looking for recommendations on a sailing day or half day. I'm already familiar with Calypso and Kekoa and they both look very nice. I'm just wondering if there are any opinions on others, including prices. We are still undecided if we will do a half day vs. a full day.

We're staying at Grande Bay, with no car, so need to depart from Cruz Bay area.

Want a daysail that includes drinks, and maybe lunch onboard too. Or option to stop for lunch.

US waters or BVI's, either one is fine. We have passports.

My 2nd option is a sunset dinner sail. Any ideas are much appreciated!

We're Wayward Sailor fans. It's not that expensive. It's a small boat (6 people max) and Captain Phil and Tarn do a great job.

It's not fancy but you're snorkeling with someone who really knows his stuff and seems to really love his job.

Plus...I've heard the sandwiches are pretty good ;-)

We will be going on on Daydreamer next Wednesday. I can let you know how it is, and the price was reasonable.

We are also doing a sunset sail on Kekoa this Saturday.. so excited for that one too!

Nancy - what kind of experience are you seeking? We really like Capt. Phil for the authentic wooden sailboat, snorkelling and educational experience. While he serves beer, I would not put it into the booze-cruise category.

Another trip, we went out on a really nice cat for the entire day and sailed to Jost for lunch. The boat was gorgeous (huge) and it was a relaxing sail over and back but in the end, my husband said it best, it was a "a very slow, expensive ride to get lunch and drinks."

I have my eye on Breath for a half-day sail next month.

The only two we've been on are the two you mentioned--we had a great experience on Calypso last March - they ended up having a party of 8 cancel and they still sailed with only my husband and I on board--pretty nice having your own private 62 foot cat! Great trip to snorkle at Whistling Cay then to Jost. We are also big fans of Kekoa, just a classy operation and beautiful boat.

BTW hello from Midland, we're not too far from you! Hope your weather is not as lousy as ours...rain and wind all day, and all the snow is gone. :(

I would highly recommend the Survivan, we sailed with Jason last June and it was like sailing with a friend. The boat is gorgeous and is in perfect condition.The food and pain killers were great and they will tailor the trip to your preference.

I think I booked that trip for you as I remember you being the only 2 on Calypso (I also have booked "luvinsun" trip on Kekoa for Saturday where they are running a fantastic extended sunset - 4 hours - with live music for the same price as their regular sunset 90 minute sunset if anyone else in interested)

Nancy if you would like my help also just let me know and I will send you an email or pm with the cost and description of all charters available so you can compare them side by side.

Yes Pia you did book the trip for us and it was fantastic! I am sure it was because of you that we got so lucky :D Can't wait to get out on the water again in STJ this summer, we'll call you for sure!

We did a half day sail/snorkel with Captain Bob on Spree 2 last Saturday. A very pleasant experience, reasonably priced. We had a couple of first-time snorkelers aboard, and he was very helpful in getting them up to speed.

You'll see his boat moored in the Cruz Bay harbor . . . it has a banner with his phone number.
