Subject: What Works in the Regular Season vs What Works in the Post Season

Apparently, even in this present day pass-happy league, you still have to play defense to be successful and win in the NFL post season. Go figure.

Patriots vs 49er's in the big game for a shootout. Patriots offense looks great, but need to work more on their defense. The only way for the Pats to win is putting up the numbers and changing it up a bit. Watch for Ocho Cinco to have a huge game in the SB....bwa ha ha ha...no really, watch.

Although, these Ravens scare me.

From the Useless Stat Department: NY Giants are 4-0 all time in NFC Championship games.
That game will be too close to call. Giants are getting 3 points from Vegas. I tried to squeeze 4.5 or 4 pts out of Jets fan I know but he wasnt biting.

You have to like the Ravens getting 9 points - that spread looks too big, just like it did when the Giants opened at 9 pt underdogs last week, then I think the line moved closer to 8 to 7.5 pts by game time.

Well, those were 2 mighty entertaining football games. It will hard for the Super Bowl to match that.

LMAO - now we have two weeks when the rest of America will simply have to deal with the New York area and Boston area fan base and media and all the hype and hyperbole that will engender. And, as much as I wish Baltimore would’ve made it to the game and I couldn’t believe the Pats good fortune, the Pats defense doesn’t scare anybody.

Also, this LOL headline from The Onion:

NEW YORK (WFAN) – Hey, who are you scoffing at?

That was the feeling four years ago among a handful of Giants defenders when Tom Brady pooh-poohed Plaxico Burress’ Super Bowl XLII prediction.

Justin Tuck told the New York Post that when Brady disrespected Burress’ 23-17 pick in favor of the Giants, the whole room “turned red.”

“I remember the arrogance of the whole way he scoffed,” defensive end Osi Umenyiora told the paper. “I remember that making us particularly angry.”

Osi added: “We just knew then that we were gonna take his head off. We just knew that right then. I mean, come on, man. There’s levels of arrogance, you understand what I mean? In the interview, like psssshhh, ‘We’re only gonna score 17 points?’ ”

The Giants, of course, went on to beat the then-undefeated Patriots 17-14 thanks to “The Catch” from Eli Manning to David Tyree — and excellent play on defense.

This season, the Patriots have won 10 in a row (two in the playoffs on top of eight in the regular season). With another win on Feb. 5 in Indianapolis, Brady and company would give New England their fourth Lombardi Trophy.

Beware, Giants. This time it’ll be Brady out for revenge.

“I still can’t watch highlights of that (Super Bowl XLII) game, I think that’s just the way it is,” Brady told Boston’s WEEI radio on Monday. “You get to the end, and we had a great opportunity there and really squandered it because we didn’t play our very best.”

The key might be to rattle the Patriots quarterback.

According to the New York Daily News, one assistant coach in the NFL found a glaring weakness when dissecting game tape from last year’s Jets playoff win over New England.

“There’s not a doubt in my mind that they rattled him. He started seeing things that weren’t even there,” the unnamed coach told the paper. “He’s human. He literally ducked down one time and there was no one there. Nobody was close to him. He thought he saw something and it wasn’t there. He literally ducked. We were literally like, ‘Did you see that? Is that really Tom Brady?’ ”

Will or will we not go Gronk on the Giants?

Love the NY vs Boston matchups across all sports. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I have to pull the Ocho Cinco card out. Brady has to strike quick in the 1st quarter and rattle their cages.

My next door neighbor has tickets to the Super Bowl--and he is not going!! My dry cleaner has tickets too--and he's not going either! He is sending his son and son's friend. Crazy guys.

I am on the way to the Patriots sendoff. I wonder if there is any room left in the stadium!
