Villa Advice for Family With 3 Young Children - Two Options

Post by jodym »

Hi, another person here looking for advice on a villa. Traveling to STJ will be: me, my husband, our three young children (4, 5, and 7), my parents and my mother-in-law. So five adults, three children. Our parents have been to STJ before but we have not. I think have it down to two villas:

Villa Colorado - http://www.villacolorado.com
This one looks like it would be easy to get to and close to more and it looks very pretty.

And

Palm Vista + The Little Palm Guest Suite

This one looks so beautiful and is definitely my style. It would be nice for my parents to have the privacy of the little villa to get a break from the kiddos. My only concern is I am a little worried about the drive to and from the villa with three young children. I can't tell if the road is paved. It is so gorgeous though and the owner has been very nice in our correspondence.

My other concern is being able to rent an SUV in time. From what I understand I may be a little late for our trip in late February/early March.

My father will probably make the final call, but I am just trying to gather info.

Any thoughts on these?

Thanks in advance for your help.

What are your plans for the kids' sleeping arrangements? The two downstairs bedrooms at Palm Vista look like exterior entrances.

Villa Colorado has been on our short list. That location would be convenient.

Oh, when on vacation, my husband and I almost always end up sleeping with the kiddos. One in one room and one in the other. Obviously, it won't be this way forever, but it's fine for now--they aren't always going to want us to sleep with them and someday that will probably make relieved but a little sad.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. We do the same thing.

Will you be going out at night for dinners? If so, I would pick closer to town. For us, the extra 10 minutes on either end of a trip to town or the beach add up. Other people don't mind at all because they spend more time at the villa.

Three young children

We rented Island Sun at the time of our wedding for the families(2) who had young children. One had 2 yr old twins and the other had a 4 yr old. Plenty of deck and porch space and outdoor sitting areas all around for the kids to play and for the adults to relax, and most importantly, the pool was not immediately adjacent to the house. We love the north shore views, but it is just a little longer from Cruz Bay to Island Sun than to Colorado. I believe Villa Colorado also has some distance between the house and the pool.

Thanks everyone. We ended up booking the Palm Vista. I'm so excited! It is going to be SO nice to have something to look forward to this winter.
