It's Carnival Time!
Greetings Forum friends,
I have posted comments on this forum but have never posted a subject. So, hear it goes -- hope it will be a favorable subject to all.
April is the month for Carnival and is currently taking place now on St. Thomas. I thought maybe a Carnival thread would be appropriate subject. In St. John Carnival is called "St John fourth of July Celebration." It is really a great time of the year to experience the local music, food, dancing in the streets and village, and meeting up with old friends and making new ones. Herman Wouk wrote a book "Don't Stop the Carnival." What are your experiences, thoughts, expectations, moments to remember? Have you been to Carnival? would you like to go?
I remember on my second visit to St. John (pre-move) and I was commandeered to be the butt end of a long dragon in the adult parade. I was reluctant at first but it was a blast and what a day to remember!

We were there for some of the events leading up to Carnival on St. John last year, but flew home on July 3. We attended the Food Fair (it was extremely hot that day!) where we enjoyed watching the Love City Pan Dragons perform. I have to confess that I wimped out on trying any of the food. Everything was being held at room temp and it was HOT! We also came in one night and went to the evening fair that they set up on the old ferry dock. Lots of yummy smelling food was cooking, and there was dancing. It was fun.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
