Reliable Coral Bay to Cruz Bay ride for 8 Tuff?

Post by chicagoans »

Staying in Coral Bay and doing 8 Tuff. I'd rather not drive to Cruz Bay for the start of the race, because then I'd have to get back there somehow after the race to get the Jeep when I'd rather be drinking (or unable to move.)

Rather not rely on the bus, because it doesn't sound particularly reliable.

Happy to pay a taxi... can I arrange a ride in advance? Who should I call?

I know hitchhiking might be an option, but can I count on it that early in the morning?

Yeah, I know it's early for these plans, but I'm anal that way.

We hitchhiked! Stand at the corner, at the Coral Bay triangle. There were others hitchhiking there too. It didn't take long at all until we were picked up by a young couple, also there for 8 tuff. It actually added to the fun and excitement of the day! You're going to have a ball!!!

We won't get to STJ until race day, so have a great time. We'll be happy to give all of you brave 8 tuff milers a pat on the back and drink a cold one with you at the Beach Bar that night though :)

I think you should just run to Cruz Bay. It would be a great warm-up for the race and then there are no issues with a vehicle.

You have plenty of time to train......

Oh no my knees just started to cry! Believe me, I'll be plenty challenged by doing the route once! You're a marathoner, right? Maybe I'll get you carry me there... or how about taking me in a rickshaw or something? Piece of cake for you!

Hey michigancouple, how about meeting us at Skinny's after the race? I'll be SO ready for a painkiller!

I like Randy's idea!

We were in Coral Bay last year but drove over- did a switcheroo with friends in Cruz Bay that were not running and they drove our car back over to Coral Bay for us and met us at the end. But I did hear the hitchhiking worked.

We plan to go to Skinny's after the race, too- it's a tradition! It's a zoo, but fun- and that giant burger and painkiller are JUST what the dr ordered after the race...

It's an awesome race- can't wait!
