Greetings! Villa Questions?

Post by senkata »

Hello!

I'm new to your forum and have enjoyed reading previous posts and looking at pictures!

I am going to St. John on 11/9th (can't wait!) and i have our plane tickets and have rented a jeep----now just trying to choose where to stay. We are staying in Coral bay and have narrowed it down to the Castle St. John and Papaya Moon (we were also considering adventure villa and brisas del mar). I have found it difficult to find any recent reviews and wondered if any of you have any insight to offer. Really, all we really want is a view and a hot tub!

Any other recommendations of places to visit--beaches, food, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much!

We stayed at Papaya Moon last November. If you are looking for views and a hot tub, then this is the place for you. The owner is very nice to work with and so are the two women who we dealt with on island. My only concern for you would be that this is your first visit to St. John. We were not met at the ferry and were given directions to the villa. This was OK as we had been to St. John several times and knew the lay of the land. For a first time visitor this might be a challenge especially if arriving late in the day. If you have any other questions about the villa, feel free to send me a private message.

Thanks for the reply Sally!

We had finally settled on the Castle in St John and after several emails back and forth with the owner (who seemed very cool, very nice) and then emailing him that we did want to stay there (and requesting how to forward him a deposit), it's now been nearly a week and i haven't heard from him :( Not a good start i suppose and maybe the universe is telling us Papaya Moon is the place to be :)

Thanks again!

Can you post a link to the Castle - the only villa I know of called The Castle is quite a drive and up probably one of the worst roads I have driven here on St John (it was for sale and I was showing to clients) but it was quite a few years back so the road might have improved. I must say the views are spectacular (if it is the same villa) :)

Haven't stayed there but have rented from windspree before, they took great care of us.

Just for the record, Jonathan, the owner of the castle did get back to me and he really does seem like a great owner; very personable and down the earth. But in the meantime when i didn't hear from him I started to get very excited about Papaya Moon. All indecisive again. I can't wait to finally decide and confirm our accommodations.

Any further recommendations/insight would still be greatly appreciated.

Promise to post a trip report when we get back :) !!
