Tuesday.

I was up at 7am, and my husband awoke at 8:10ish. We left around 8:45 and got to Maho around 9.

Image

We snorkeled to the left (as we always set up camp on that side), and saw a HUGE turtle. This was the first trip where I saw turtles, so I became OBSESSED with them. Amazing animals!

After our snorkel, someone yelled "STARFISH," but I was too lazy to trek over to the middle to try to find it.

We floated, read magazines, and were just bums in general.

Image

I wrote our monogram and Christmas stuff in the sand (we may use this for this year's Christmas card), and I took pictures of my handiwork. I'm sure the couple beside me thought I was insane, but oh well.

Image

Around 12:45, we headed to Shipwreck for - you guessed it - conch fritters (and coconut shrimp). I had beer, while my husband had the drink du jour - cherry tea with vodka. SUPER strong, and super delish! We enjoyed the banana cheesecake with caramel sauce for dessert.

Image

We picked up more water from the Lumberyard, and were home by 2:30ish.

We showered up and checked emails and left the house around 5:20 to go to Morgan's Mango for Lobster Night! We got a sweet parking spot right across the street in the tiny parking lot from MM.

We started with mojitos and bahama mamas at the bar. $16 later.......we were seated.

We started with two AMAZING apps - spicy shrimp and plantain soup and tequila lime shrimp empanadas. Y'all. BEST SOUP EVER. I wanted to eat a gallon of this.

Image

We split the crab stuffed lobster. I don't mean to be Debbie Downer, but WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. We came here for Lobster Night on our first trip, and I remember LOVING the crab stuffed lobster, and not even being able to finish it because it was so massive. This year's lobster was paltry and not fantastic at all.

Image

Lesson learned. We won't go back to Lobster Night, nor will we get anymore lobster from here.

We will, however, go back for apps and other goodies. The apps were AMAZING, as was the pecan bread pudding.

We headed home around 7:45, and we were miserably stuffed.

We laughed at Wes Small and his reporting on Channel 8 regarding the "deadly LEAC." What a crack-up this guy is. So much for unbiased and professional journalism. Ha! Such entertainment. "As my grandmother says, 'May God be with us.'" Yep. Another direct quote from Wes Small. We tuned in nightly to Channel 8 "NEWS" just for a laugh.

Off to sleep we went with full tummies!

Your Morgan's food porn looks awesome, especially the soup. I love the mango tango drink from Morgan's.

Too bad about the lobster. Over the years, we have found wonderful lobster as well as meh lobster all over the island. Is there a season for lobsters in the VI where they are better than other times of the year?

Not sure about lobster season....I really think it has a lot to do with preparation.

As for the soup - not sure if it was curry flavored...perhaps? It was sweet because of the plantains, yet definitely had a kick to it. All I know is, I wish I had the recipe. I'd fix it nightly. :)
