Stop Running This Script?

Post by greyhoundmom »

After I view a few posts, I get "A script on this page is causing internet explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run your computer might become unresponsive." When I check yes, then everything freezes up and I can't get out unless I log off. Anyone seen this before? :x

I haven't gotten that script, but I've frozen up quite a few times when I've been on this forum in the last few days.

It must be an ad being served by my banner network. But I am not having the issue. If anyone sees anything else funny or can get me a screenshot or more details I can ask the ad to be pulled. For now I will try the support email - it certainly had to be happening on other sites in the ad network. Thanks for the heads up and please add more details to this post if you have them.

It is happening to me too. I have had to completely reboot a couple of times because of it. Typing very fast before I get shut down again! :P

Thanks for that - I am pretty sure it must be bad ad code - probably Flash. I have no Flash on these pages so it is most likely a Flash ad trying to be served. It may be incompatible with other javascript on the page - I am contacting them but it is Friday so not sure when they will get to it.

Happening to me also. I am running Windows XP and IE8. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but the Radio Shack banner is running this time when I got the message. I will watch to see if it is running next time I get it. My status line also showed it was waiting for some Facebook tools to load.

Travel Ad Network told me it wasn't them - I have a feeling it may be the Facebook "Like" box at the top of the page, which I just removed to test. If anyone was having the issue, let me know if it is resolved now. I probably won't get back to this until tomorrow morning -

Anthony I got the error just now (3:45 pm US CT on Saturday.) Got it in IE in 2 posts (the Coral Bay hotel post and then in this post.) After a couple restarts I went into Chrome and didn't get it.

Still had the frozen IE window open when I started this response (in Chrome.) Went back and it had unfrozen, so I hit refresh to see if I could find an error. The IE message line along the bottom (where you normally see "Done") said it was loading something from Facebook when it froze. Couldn't get a screen shot of that, but I'll send a screen shot of the subsequent error message.

I had forgotten about that other Facebook like thing on the posts - that is removed now too. Hopefully this solves the issue!
