Dinner with a view

Post by Christiki »

Hello! I need some suggestions, please... Absolutely fell in love with Zozo's last year, we had a wonderful dinner at the bar with a great view. Planned to attempt to duplicate the experience again this year, but we will be in St. John next month, and just found out that Zozo's will be closed temporarily while we are on the island. Can I have some suggestions of favorite places to dine at sunset? Thanks!

Our favorite restaurant on St John is Asolare. We don't think it can be beat for the view at Sunset. Would suggest you get there early for the first seating; that way you'll be seated on the balcony up front and can watch the sun go down with no obstruction! Have a great trip! Ask for Jody as your waitress, she's great!

Not a fancy place, but we love the Maho Bay Camps restaurant at sunset. The food's usually good too.

I second Asolare. We had a great meal there in February - food and view are excellent.

Do a lot of restaurants close on STJ during Sept/Oct like they do in the BVI's?

I third Asolare but you might have the same problem there. According to the restaurant closing list on St John Spice, Asolare's kitchen is closed the first 3 weeks of September.

Many will close - here is a link to the closing schedule (it is updated as the dates come in)

Asolare does have a great view. And the bar and story of the building is very cool. We didn't catch the sunset but rather had the second seating and enjoyed the twinkling lights of Cruz Bay below. I really enjoyed the food, but FI not so much, they work on a planned limited menu. Give it a try. Especially if you are limited on choices of places to go due to closings in Sept. Happy Planning.

The view from Asolare is great and the restuarant itself is very cool. But the food was good, not great in my opinion. Not worth the prices they charge but for those prices you get the view and the whole experience, so it's worth going. Though I would pick La Plancha Del Mar over Asolare any day of teh week. Outstanding food, great service/friendly people, great happy hours and a nice setting (though not much of a view)
