Landing on Island and Day 1
Landing on Island and Day 1
Mornin' Glories!!!
We are here and life is good, better than good, it is Grand!!
After landing, we went into the liquor store at the airport and bought crown royal, dark & light rum and baileys.
We caught the 3 pm ferry, met our very nice villa manager, who took us to get our jeep, and then brought us to our rental unit. It is the perfect size for 2 peeps.
We unpacked, then we ran out and hit Sam & Jacks for pesto, hummus, foccacia bread, a spaghetti type dinner, some nice ravioli's, provolone cheeses and pastrami.
Then down to Starfish for milk, 1/2 & 1/2, juices, whole wheat sandwich rolls, case of 4 gallons of water. Then next door for beer.
Then Den dropped me off at Ruth's and I ran upstairs to get my must haves, coffee's, tea, nutmeg and grater. Can't wake up without my Kiss ot the Jumbie coffee the first morning, there is no way!
After putting away the food items we made big drinks, put on our suits, swam in the pool - called home to report in and came back in and shared the spaghetti dinner and some of the foccacia bread. Went to bed and passed out.
Thursday morning we packed our cooler with plenty of goodies to stay all day at Little Lameshur. Which we did. We had prearranged to me Ward (awardb) and his lovely wife, Sylvia, there. We just had the most pleasant time visiting, swimming, all 4 of us are readers, so lots of reading. Then we packed up at around 5 and went to Shipwreck Landing for dinner. I had 2 Funky Monkey drinks...ooo-la-la...but are they ever good.
For dinner Sylvia and I had the curry-nut crusted grouper. Another ooo-la-la!! Den (my hub) had blackened wahu, and Ward had a new york strip. Oh, for appetizer we ordered conch fritters and they ordered a seafood quessadia (sp), they were both yummy!!
It is very brezzy on the island which is a good thing...good breeze running through our unit this morning.
Today Den and I are going to Francis for the day. I hope the water is clearer there than it was at Lameshur yesterday. It was great to swim in, and so blue the sky looked purple. But not good for snorkeling, that is ok...not complaining, we are on St. John!!
Tonight we are meeting msgcolleen & Kyle at the beach bar between 6:30 & 7...Ward and Sylvia are coming too so any of you early Aug peeps who are here, come on down, I'll have on a strand of my best pearls. Really, they are only mardi gras beads...Ha!!
Will check in tomorrow with Day 2...wish you were all here!!
