Another car rental question

We've always arranged our car rentals through the villa rental agency because we arrive after hours. This year we'll be arriving in time to pick up the car ourselves. The villa agencies seem to have "preferred" car rentals they work with. Is it less expensive to book direct or are we getting pretty much the same price either way? I wouldn't quibble over $20 or $30 for the convenience, but if we're paying a lot more, I'd like to shop around.

We have always paid the same rates whether through the villa rental agency or on our own. We use Denzil Clyne, but have also had villa agencies arrange through Penn's, St John Car Rental and Cool Breeze. We prefer Denzil.
