Hike to nowhere and other activities

Post by Jost Kidding »

Day 2 started innocent enough with a few breakfast items from Deli Grotto. We decided to try something new and head to Solomon. We parked up at the lot for the Lind Point trail up the hill from Asolare. Not really that much into hiking, so the hike down to the beach was steep and not so much fun. The beach is very secluded and there were only a few people there. It was a cloudy Monday though and it hurt the beach mojo. We decided to head out and left by way of the trail at the opposite end of the beach from where we had entered. This is where we entered the STJ to normal blah Monday vortex.

I had the idea that heading back out on this trail would be a short cut....so wrong. On the way out we must have hiked twice the normal distance. By that time the sun was back and it was steamy. When we made it back to the Jeep I officially swore off hiking forever.

Decided to ease the pain with lunch to go from Deli Grotto. The plan was to eat our lunch back at the villa while enjoying some pool time. Made our way back to Fish Bay and started our way up the switchbacks to Sol Inclination. Soon as we started up the first hill I heard a pop and the sound of rushing air...flat tire. So this is not a heavily traveled road, but as soon as our tire went flat, local STJ resident Frank drove up and offered to help change the tire. Thank you Frank! It was a pleasure to meet you and we appreciate your help so much.

The day ended much better with dinner at Cafe Roma. We enjoyed leftovers for dinner tonight.

This morning we dropped the Jeep off at Courtesy while we went to Jake's for breakfast. They ended up replacing all of the tires on the Jeep with a brand new set. We really appreciated that.

After getting the Jeep back we set out for Waterlemon. After swearing off hiking, it was time for a hike. We've done this one before though, so knew that it was a relatively easy, flat trail. We still remember 5 years ago seeing a beautiful spotted eagle ray. We were hoping to re-visit that moment today but it didn't happen. We did see a sting ray and managed to see 1 starfish. I believe the rest are at The Westin for their annual convention.

On the way back home we hit Starfish Market for some breakfast items/snack foods and Starfish Gourmet for beer/wine. We didn't eat out for dinner on our first trip so we decided this time to try some of the crowd favorites. Cafe Roma last night was a great start. Tomorrow we lined up a reservation for bar seats at ZoZo's. Sounds expensive but we'll consider it worthwhile if the sunset delivers.

We are enjoying Sol Inclination. It is a bit of a haul to get to/from. Travel is on paved roads all the way, but those roads are steep. It's taking us about 15 minutes to get to/from town. If you're looking for privacy and great views, this is the place. We would not hesitate to recommend the place.

I am glad to read that you are having a good trip so far. The views from your villa look amazing!

I hope you enjoy Zozos tonight, it is one of my favorites. I recommend the mahi dish if you like fish.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
