Salt Pond theft
Salt Pond theft
I am saddened and shocked to hear about a recent theft at Salt Pond. What are the police doing about this and are there any suspects? A thief would not have far to run.

I doubt anyone will every be caught. I remember years back there was a string of thefts right there on the beach when people were snorkeling. Salt Pond has always been a place to take extra caution. And, for goodness sake, NEVER EVER EVER keep any valuables (even your favorite towel) in a vehicle. I'm just shocked that anyone even did that in the first place.

As I responded to you in the other thread.................
Well they could run to neighboring islands if they were so inclined - remember St Thomas and Tortola are only a short ferry ride away and I am not saying the thieves were from either of those islands please don't get me wrong I'm just saying it is easy to leave the island and vanish.

On our first trip to the islands four of us headed to St Martin. The beaches of Terres Basses are spectacular. The sun was brutal so we dropped off our stuff under the sea grape at the back of the beach. On the second day we followed the same pattern - drop the bags and head for the water with a cold beverage. Later we attempted to rent jet skis at the Pelican. All our money was gone - cameras and other goodies were untouched. Lesson learned.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
