We "got it" and are returning to get it again

Post by Linward »

Hello forumites,
Believe someone recently mentioned that the closer one gets to returning to STJ, the more involved they become with this forum...well, for ourselves, this is true. We are returning to a place that has called to us since we were first there two years ago and find it strange that any island could do this, as we like to visit "places" we have not been to before.
STJ is special and is, as we posted before, the only place that elicited tears from my wife when we left.
Why we wish to return has something to do with your feelings about this place as well. Being there produces such a feeling of peace and oneness with the surroundings that unless you're totally absorbed with your obligations, you can't help but step outside of your responsibilities and your isolation from your environment to appreciate what God has provided for us. On the seventh day....we all should rest and give thanks.
That doesn't mean we should become self-absorbed and forget our responsibilities to others; only that we seek peace with our surroundings and with our fellow man (and with our other life forms).
Thank you all for keeping this attitude of allegiance and hope for a respite from our demanding lifes afloat.
We salute you and give you thanks for the living memory of what life is all about.
Life is an adventure.
Treasure each moment.

Only been once (2007) cause we like to see new "places" as well, but St. John has called to me ever since. I visit this forum every day and participate like I know what I'm talking about!!! Our next trip is scheduled for Feb 2012 and with any luck, we'll return in Nov 2012 for my 50th (and our friends 50th's as well). Never thought I'd stick with one island, but St. John truly has everything to offer (IMHO). We are so lucky 8)
all you have to do is smile, smile, smile

lisa mcg,

So well said!! It's even better since you are from Delaware!! We have 58 days until our family vacation, and we are all so excited! June 11...please come soon!

Do you ever go to Dewey/Rehoboth? We have our favorite places to go there too, although they just don't compare to St. John.
