5 Must things to do for a #9 newbie

Post by Bigcheeze »

OK...so I'm geeked and just 21 days away. Can you tell from the increased posts?

Even after 8 years I can't believe that there are at least a dozen things we haven't even done yet...ok maybe more than a dozen.

#1 call me bad...Reef Trail is on the radar finally( hey thekids are now 11 and 14 and I'm up to 10 minutes on the treadmill)

So, what haven't you done in all your years, that must be TO DO?

We've only been to STJ 3 times so we are newbies compared to some of you.

My hubby always wants to get up really early, before sunrise, and hike Ram's Head. Take some breakfast snacks in a pack and have breakfast up there. Well, it sounds like a great idea, but then we never actually get up and get going to do it. I tend to want to sleep in and have lazy mornings before heading out. Maybe next trip...
We want to try Zozo's too.

Haven't done the reef bay trail yet

Post by inuny »

We were with friends and I made a reservation with the park service for the reef bay hike. Well, we got to the park office and I had the date wrong and we couldn't reschedule. We ended up doing the caneel trail and Mary? -it was beautiful. We ended up at Caneel, had our bag lunches, then had a drink in the bar (ok, we were the sweatiest people there).

Another time, we were on our way to the park office when WAPA (the VI electric company) called and said they were coming to our house. So we turned around.

Sixth trip soon come and we've yet to;

Do a BVI trip (but we'll be scratching that one off the list this time!)

Go to Josephine's greens location.

Get takeout from Uncle Joe's or Candi's.

Eat at any of the "high end" restaurants.

Night snorkel.
Come see us!

This will be our 8th trip and would love to go to a church on Sunday. But the time Sunday morning rolls around, we opt for the beach. I heard they have (or had)a Sunday service on Cinnamon Bay so maybe we'll check it out this time!
I've got 2 tickets to paradise~Pack your bags we'll leave tonight!

After 16 trips the list of what John and I have not done is still incredibly long. We seem to manage one new thing each trip. If we continue at this rate I figure we'll be done around 2030.

After 15 years, we still have a to do list. A few I can think of off the top of my head -

Vie's
Any of the hiking trails (already crossed Reef Bay off our list)
Visit the library in Cruz Bay

I love doing the Ram Head hike early early early in the morning. Also, its not a trip to STJ for me w/o a blue cheese burger (or 2) from Skinny's!

On my list in the future, the Reef Bay hike. But only if the boat is waiting at the bottom to pick me up!

1) Brown Bay Hike
2) Rock Scramble from Fish Bay to Genti Bay
3) Snorkel Tektite and Haulover North

Funny yet cautionary tale regarding the Reef Bay Hike...it's a great hike unless you're incredibly naive like me.

Oops...I should have put my Whistling Cay recommendation here! Probably not for a first trip, but a great thing to try!

After living on island for 5 years and visiting for 10 after that, my list is HUGE and a little embarassing.
Remember these are all things I have not done:

Honeymoon
Denis
Lameshur
Reef Bay Hike
Ram's Head
Or any hike for that matter
Annaberg
Waterlemon
