Cuba

Post by Terry »

Has anyone here been to Cuba lately? I have an opportunity to go in the near future.

My Mom lived there from age 6 until age 22. My Grandfather was an engineer at a silver mine in Cuba.

I'm fearful of this trip, but want to see my Mom's side of things, even though it's not the same.

No first person experience but my German relatives have gone over the years and likeed it. My mom is friends with a couple (he is Dominican, she is from some where in Eastern Europe) who travel there regularly for their jobs. They just got married at some resort on Cuba in November.

I have not been to Cuba lately. I was there in 2001 for a US-government sponsored food show. I didn't get to explore very much because I was working and did not get outside Havana. It was a very interesting place to visit and I do hope to return. I had an opportunity to go this past December, but it didn't work out.

So I can't offer any advice on recent travel, but I have a special affinity for Cuba.
