We love going over to Water Island, especially on Sundays. Very laid back, not a whole lot of activities, but a very nice beach, calm water, two beach bars, what more can you ask for. On Saturday and Sunday evening, Joes's Beach Bar has live entertainment. Saturday nights, Heidi's Honeymoon Grill has a very nice dinner on the beach (have to make a reservation), and on Monday nights she does a movie night on the beach. During the day you can get lunch at Heidi's until 3:30 or 4. Bring cash, no credit cards at either place. You catch the ferry at Crown Bay marina by Tickles Dockside pub. When you get to Water island it's a little bit of a walk to Honeymoon, but not too bad. Sometimes you can catch a ride on one of golf carts running around the island.
We always go by boat, drop anchor, and swim into the beach.

MrsCaptainJay,
We're staying at Sapphire. Do you think it is worth it for us to pay cab fair to the marina, pay ferry boat and then cab again back to the marina in order to do a Sunday at Water Island? Also, do you know if the ferry goes back after the beach dinner at Heidi's. It sounds like a lot of fun, but I just don't know if it's worth the hassle.
I know you said you go by your boat. Do you do charters?
Nancy

The ferry runs at night a couple nights a week but you need call and confirm which nights/times they are running. (340) 690-4159
As far as being worth it, I can't really say. We love it because we can get there easy by boat and we love the people at Joe's Beach Bar. It's beautiful at sunset and you see the big cruise ship from Crown bay passing by all lit up. If you're looking for something different to do while on STT, new experiences are always fun.
We own a small power boat but we don't do charters. Maybe one of these days

Thanks for the phone number and info. We want to do a sunset sail with dinner, but I was thinking doing a Sunday afternoon and evening with Heidi's beach dinner instead might be fun. Even with the cab fare and ferry fare it would still maybe be less that the boat excursion. What kind of dinner and prices does Heidi's have? Do you know?
