Vegas?
Vegas?
A year ago today I was packing for a week in St John, today I am packing for Vegas and Palm Desert. We used to get to Vegas often, as many of our friends have retired out there, but we have not been out in 5 years. Friends tend not to do the Strip thing, so we will be on our own for entertainment. Does anybody who has been there recently have any last minute suggestions for restaurants/shows? We are leaving tomorrow PM( Thursday).

Rum Jungle @ Mandalay Bay was really fun! It is a brazillian steak house in the early evening/dinner time then turns into a full on dance club later. Try the VOLCANO! Or the Jungle Juice. Lots of rum involved, very tasty.

The wall of Rum

The restaurant at Eifel Tower in Paris (expensive) was very, very good. Best meal we had in Vegas.

Burger Bar @ Mandalay too for lunch is excellent.
A trip to old vegas - Freemont St - for the light show is fun but not something I would do unless you have lots of time.
Also, we saw Viva Elvis and loved it.

Boy those drinks remind me of the old Duffy's in Cruz Bay. We do have time on our hands as we will be in Vegas for about 7 nights and will probably be on our own if we go to the strip at night. Our friends out there think its kind of like visiting suburban New York and going into 42nd St every night. They have thier special places but rarely go exploring. My girlfriend has become kind of a stick-in-the-mud, but her daughter still likes to have a good time, as at Toby Keith's Bar and exploring the new hotels, like Aria, the Palazzo and the Cosmopolitan.
Boy, that Vocano looks good, except its about 20 degrees here so I cant picture a tropical drink just now.

We stayed at Bally's and in the coupon book in the room, there were free admission tickets to the car museum at one of the small older hotels on the strip, I can not remember the name, but it was across from Caesar's I think.
I had no idea what to expect since it is on the enclosed floors of a parking garage, but it was very cool. Many celebrity owned cars; Johnny Carson, Elvis, etc.
We really enjoyed it and I recommend it!

I know it's too late, but if you're checking here while you're there, this is the best Italian restaurant in Vegas.

And my all time favorite restaurant in Las Vegas by far is:

It's not anywhere near the Strip...Thank Goodness. It's on a quiet piece of water about 30 minutes away. Very romantic and great wine selection!
