Rendezvous/Ditliff

Post by stjchica »

Tell me about this area for rentals..
Looks fairly close to Cruz Bay for driving in for dinner/drinks, etc..
Any other considerations when renting in this area? Prone to break ins or anything else I should know?

We've stayed in this location our last two trips...we LOVE it...Not far from town and paved roads all the way in...the views...WOW...honestly for me...some of the best on island...We felt very safe there...stayed in Villa Sea Cay both times and absolutely enjoyed it...

I rented in this area the last 2 winters and loved the view. It is a very quiet area except for a school bus honking his horn at the switch backs. Some of the roads are not paved and can be bumpy but it was never a problem. It is ten minutes to town or to Centerline Rd if you wanted to head over to the Coral Bay area. As in most areas, the higher up you are, the better the view and breezes Image

We have stayed in that area 7 or 8 times. We really love that area but:We are beach people and it really is far from all the beaches we like to hang out at.
Also if you are not up high, cell service AT&T was not available or spotty at best-that was 3 years ago when we stayed at Monte Bay.No reception at all. It's great for getting to and back from town, quiet and really nice. It's just the extra 15 minutes in the car going to beaches got to be to much.
But you wont regret staying there.

We stayed in Rendevous Bay and loved it! It was really quiet and we had the sun most of the day. We like to drive through town on our way to the North shore beaches to pick up lunch at Deli Grotto or stopping for dinner on our way back to the villa.

We stayed at L'esprit de la vie in Rendevous Point a couple years ago and enjoyed the location. Close enough to town and convenient to centerline road.

We too liked this area. We rented St. John Passion-I looked at my pictures and the view looks almost exactly like the one that traveler22 posted. Same house maybe? Very quiet and peaceful. Stunning views. Not too bad to get to Centerline via Gifft Hill or to drive into Cruz Bay.

Thanks all...we enjoy cruising the island with the windows down, the radio cranked up, and the wind blowing our hair all crazy while singing at the top of our lungs. We are on island time..no worries, what's a little drive when you are on island, right?? :) Appreciate the feedback..

The villa's is named "Blue Heaven Rendezvous" and is beside St. John Passion on the same rocky, dirt road but it doesn't have a pool. I believe they were built by the same person since they have the same basic layout. Loved everything about this villa except there was no parking like SJP, one of the neighbors ( Dr Clayton) kept complaining about us parking along the road which is what the rental agency told us to do, so there's even evil people in paradise! :(.

I think the Rendezvous/Ditleff area is one of the most beautiful on island. We stayed there on our first trip back in 2002 and again this past trip. It is one of the few places where you get that endless ocean view without a whole lot of obstructions. It is also such a short trip into town, while still being pretty quiet.

Many places with view, breeze and wonderful ambiance - and a great view of the Ditleff Point colonization program.
Rendezvous Bay is fairly unspoiled at the moment and filled with turtles, rays and migratory fish - the shoreline is coral filled but extremely susceptible to runoff and the mud from building sites - the major part of the Bay is grassy - very nourishing to sealife but open to point pollution from uncontrolled land scraping -- it is rather dry landscape overall and very much cactus overgrown - it has never been a home site destination previously before the availability of purchased water form the Desal plants and it is now dependent on water being being trucked in - an expensive alternative for villa expansion.[ Not to mention the sewage water disposal and treatment.]

A more current photo will show some intrusive buildings but being a private property scenario -it is build what you will-- and that seems to be is the rule. And of course as a once a year visitor--- rent what makes you happy this week.

We rented here several years ago (Morningside) and the views were wonderful. The roads are in good shape, but it is far from the beaches as someone else noted but very quiet and peaceful (except for the darn birds that chirped outside our bedroom at dawn every morning!).

We stayed in Blue Heaven also. I love the picture from traveler 22. It was a nice view to see each morning and each night. Most days we could see St. Croix. We enjoyed the area. We actualy went down to Ditliff point two snorkel one day. Don't know if that is still available.
