Reggae and Tektite

Post by KathyMN »

On the St. John Source community calendar, they show "Reggae Week" starting on Jan 29, but no further details. I've checked some other sites, but nothing there either. Does anyone know what Reggae week entails? We arrive on the 29th, so I'm excited to find out what's happening.

Also, I just saw this article/video about the documentary they are putting together about the old NASA Tektite project. It's really interesting, and I hope they're able to finish it and get it onto Discovery or PBS. See it at http://www.on-stjohn.com/

Only 1 month to go!!! I am SO ready.

If you are interested in the Tektite Project here is a link to photos that I posted to the On St John site. They look like personal photos by a participant.

Oh gosh! BillVT, that first photo is my very good friend riding on his Dad's shoulders when he was a toddler and his Dad was involved in the project. He sent me that photo a couple of years ago when I told him I was going to vacation on St. John.

Those pictures are classic. Any idea of the dates? I'm guessing late 60s early 70s. Very cool factoid ifloat.

On this last trip we walked down to the little research station on Great Lameshur. I'd be really interested to see a documentary on the project.

BillVT, these are some great pics of "modern" STJ history. I hope some of the people in them get wind of this and come forward to identify themselves and give updates on their lives. They would be a nice addition to the documentery. Thanks for posting the link.
Friends, they go away then they re-appear...I believe there is Magic here.

Thanks, BillVT for those awesome pictures. The more I read about the project, the more interesting it becomes. I'll have to do more digging.

Anyone have any information on Reggae week?

tektite visit

Post by Sumerwaters »

I have had tektite on my list of STJ things to do for a long time. I plan to visit the end of January and would like to see/snorkel the site. Any advice how to get there? etc.
Thanks
