Day Six – A Bit of This and That
The Cali girls and Cabana Boy are up early and head off to Maho for the day.

The rest of us sleep in a bit because we were the (very) late car last night. Lauren and I get up and spend some sweet Mom/Daughter time in the pool. She is leaving on the 1 p.m. ferry today to get back to school. She is such an awesome girl – she does really well in school and worked with all of her professors to get her course work done before she left so she could share this birthday with me! We pack her up and head into town to meet my brother for lunch at Waterfront Bistro. We head over to park at St. John Car Rental and I panic freeze going up the steep, narrow hill. Lauren says “Mom, you’ve got this” and I said “Nooo, I am just going to park over there” – pointing to an area to the side of the building. Lauren, in all her pithy wisdom, says “Mom, your fear of this hill doesn’t make that a legal parking spot”. So I gun it and make it to the back parking lot. Told you she was smart.
We had a lovely lunch at Waterfront Bistro. I haven’t been to this spot since it was Panini and I forgot just how gorgeous the view is. Brother and daughter had the spinach salad and I had the BLT with delicious sweet potato chips. My brother comes to the states only once a year so it was sweet that we had this time just the three of us before Lauren left.
After dropping the girl at the ferry with a hug and a tear, I head back to the villa and lounge by the pool. The new guy, having arrived after dark the night before, wakes up, looks out the sliding glass doors and says “Holy Shit”!

Did I mention how much I love bringing newbies! Gus not only brought his enthusiasm, but also a really cool “big boy” camera and an underwater one as well. We head out for a driving tour of the island, out the North Shore road, up to Bordeaux and then back down the North Shore road to meet at the Banana Deck for dinner.

Pictured above - my darling nephew and wife who brought my girl to me.
We had a great dinner at the Banana Deck. This is a great, reasonably priced dining option with a wonderful atmosphere and DJ our villa manager was the bartender/manager and was very gracious.
The California girls go back to the villa and the rest of head to Woodys! Had a few drinks outside then headed over to Rhumb Lines to enjoy the swings at the bar. I love this place and I’m sorry we didn’t get to eat here this year. The “kids” headed over the Beach Bar for a few more, but I head home because tomorrow is … wait for it … BOAT DAY!!
