The General car barge stuck on Stev .Cay

Post by Pia »

I was just informed that the General is stuck on Stev.Cay and that the Mr B is trying to pull her off with a rope  Pictures are on Facebook but I'm not there so if you can post a picture here for me that would be good. Everyone wearing their life jackets but boy, how the hell did she hit the Cay ????- poor reef

Per Captain John Brandi:
"Just released by the Coast Guard. Car barge still on the reef all passengers off safe. What a day."

Per Captain John Brandi:

"They got the barge off the reef and to the dock, divers checking it out now."

This is a good reason to rent your car here on St John. Especially now with 1 boat out of commission during the Christmas rush. What's the waiting time for the next boat?

That's exactly what I was thinking while reading this thread. Luckily, that's the decision we made for this trip. Rachel is booked to get us to Red Hook, and we'll be renting from C&C this trip. Man, I can hardly wait.

My buddy Lori who teaches yoga on island and works in real estate, was on the barge for 3 1/2 hrs and said it was sooooooooo stressful.
Thank goodness they are all off and hopefully the reef can survive.

Inquiring minds want to know!

How could that happen? How many times a day does that captain make that trip? He must know the route like the back of his hand.

Barge on the rocks

Being from Alaska, we always wondered where Joseph Hazelwood ended up working after his job with Exxon.
