Post by Berlingirl »

Ok...been medically cleared to travel to New York and see the Macy's thanksgiving day parade...going to be gone three nights...two adults one 13 year old girl. Wed night, thur and Fri and back on Sat. Any sugguestions. Have hotel near times square. My husband would like a steak and Italian suggestion. I will be happy with soup...LOL, and daughter will have a little of this is or that. We are not fussy. Husband is a meat man and heard about New York steak houses. Shows haven't been planned...might just wing. Place to see parade? Suggestions? Thanks@ :D

How late do you think you will be here on Wednesday? If you get here by say 5 pm hustle yourself right up to central park west up around the 70's and watch them blow up the balloons for the parade!--the parade is nutty crowded--maybe someone else can tell you where it is best to try to see it--but get there early-- Not sure how it will be trying to get tkts to a show--i imagine that Friday would be VERY difficult due to the date--you could try wednesday night --- ask the concierge to help you are try TKTS--and see if they have anything. i can't help you with Steak houses--sorry--but if you ahve other questions about things to do, ask away!
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

I would definelty check out "Bond 45" on 145 W 45th Street. Its a Prohibiton place from way back. www.bond45.com Also check out the "Palm " located at 250 West 50th Street, Its right across the "Carport area drop off for Wicked.( which by the way is a GREAT show) I have eaten there...and loved it it without a doubt one of the better meals I have had in NYC... www.thepalm.com/Palm-West ,Also pick up a copy of Time Out magazine lots of info in there and you should be able to find a copy at Times Square info center or a Barnes and Noble. I know you are exctied. I have never been there for the parade, always after and I had hoped to get there this yr but it wasnt in the cards. Instead my son is coming here, he'll be here tonight, NY is beautiful at Christmas. Definetly something magical about it...Have fun...:)

Becco on 46th St. is wonderful http://www.becco-nyc.com/# doubtful though that you could get in there at this late date at prime time, maybe odd time would be available.
There are at least another half dozen Italian restaurants on 46th Street.
Punch in "Italian restaurants nyc 46th st" into google maps and they'll come up with reviews etc.
That block of 46th with many restaurants located in brownstones is about as charming a street there is that close to Times Sq.
Re Broadway, try to score tickets at the day of show discount sales Tkts booth in Times Sq. Maybe put "Next to Normal" on your list - it blew us away in Oct. how good it was.

The tree won't be lit yet, but it will be up at Rockefeller Center. Then there's the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. And, of course, don't miss the store windows.
