Family Adventure Trip? Guides? Suggestions?

Post by chicagoans »

This is an adventurous group so I'm looking for your suggestions. We didn't do a big vacation (hardly even a small one) this year for several reasons. However, we're hoping to do one next summer.

Our kids will be 12 and 14, and I'd like to do something at least semi-adventurous. (Hiking, kayaking, rafting, biking etc.) I've done some local trips with an adventure travel group and they offer international family trips too, but just a few; their US family trips are all in the Midwest.

Has anyone done any US or international family trips with a group/guides? Any recommendations?

I'm all over the place right now, from a Utah/Lake Powell trip to Canada to Europe... DH and the kids have never been to Europe, so we may just pick a destination and go on our own, maybe hook up with some guides for a small excursion while we're there.

But if you have recommendations, I'd love to hear them!

Hey Katie!
we've been thinking of a rafting trip in the grand canyon this summer.... But not sure (the kids are doing some stuff ---Lu (i think) is going to live on a blackfoot reservation in Montana for a month--and Will is going to canoe in northern ontario for a month
If you are wanting to do the Europe thing--how about Greece and Italy?--if you want a group thing I beieve it is smothsonian that does a good one--but you can easily do this on your own (having guides for some of the stuff--like corinth and Delos and doing it on your own--
there are some GREAT galapagos tours that a few people on this forum mentioned and they look really special.
any idea on where you are leaning?
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>
