Post by JJShaw »

I havent had time to do a trip report from our last trip. I plan on it..eventually...maybe...as soon as I can find time..However on this past trip we visited a beach we werent able to visit on our prior trip and I wanted to share a pic to see how many people have been here and if you know the name of the beach...:)
I have more pics I will post later from our trip.

Exit Zero...you are right..I kinda guessed you or Hugo would know..lol...Last time we tried to swim to it but dont think we went far enough out around the reef that there..so we looked at Google Earth and tried this time...and made it..we didnt stay over 10 minutes...kinda felt like we were invading someones privacy I guess..we just took a few pics and swam back.
Heres another pic of the beach looking to the left

Windswept is to the direct right of Trunk Bay as you are looking at the water. It's not accessible via land to my knowledge, you have to swim over. There's a private home on the beach that was built in, I think, the 1950's.

I've been going to STJ for nearly 20 years and I've never heard about this place  . Does anyone live in the house on the beach? I've never noticed a road/driveway in the area.

I believe "Windswept" is a private residence belonging to the Boulon family. Really looks terrific in the view from the water.

Yes, somebody lives there. I read the story about the house...somewhere...on one of my trips. If I am remembering correctly, the same person has lived there the whole time. There is a road to the house from the North Shore Road but it is marked "private."

Aha! Google is my friend! I remembered the history pretty well:

There is an article on "Windswept" in the Winter 2008 issue of St John Magazine.

I had also read about it somewhere..cant remember where it was. But we wanted to swim over just to see it. As I said, we didnt stay but about 5 or 10 minutes long enough to take a few pics and then left. We didnt want to feel like we were invading their privacy. We didnt go on around the point, I knew it was private and In fact I had debated on whether to post the pics. But Im glad we got to see it...:)
