Good travel advice

Post by Lindy »

Just saw this on Rachel Ray and thought it would be good info to pass along. Stick a large trash bag in your suitcase and when you get to your destination and unpack seal your suitcase up inside the trash bag.
Not only are we hearing about bedbug infestations all over the world, there was a thread here about bedbugs at the Westin! Also, the spider picture that Stjohnjulie posted looks like the spider was sitting on the strap from a piece of luggage. I wouldn't want to bring THAT type of hitchhiker home!!! An added plus is that you've got something to take everything on the last trip to the dumpsters before heading to the ferry. LOL!

COCONUT CRABS
The coconut crab is a large edible land crab related to the hermit crab , and are found in the tropical Indian and Pacific Oceans .. They eat coconuts for a living! How would you like to be on an island and come across a crab that is more than 3 feet from head to tail and weighs up to 40 pounds , with a pair of large pincers strong enough to open coconuts! They can climb trees too , but the y only eat coconuts that have already fallen to the ground. Coconut crab meat has been considered a local delicacy.

We were watching "Man Woman Wild" one night and they caught one of those coconut crabs and ate it. All I could think was too bad they don't have butter!

YUM!
*Another fine scatterbrained production

I saw Anthony Bourdain eat one of those on No Reservations. I can't remember where he was visiting--Fiji maybe. IIRC, he said it was delicious.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Yikes! That looks more like a nighmare spider to me than a crab. I sure wouldn't want to run across that guy in the dark of night.

Oh yum!! I'll have to find that spot next time I'm in Maine.

Beats the hell outta me how we went from bedbugs to Maine lobsters but I'll take em!! (Lobsters that is, NOT bedbugs.)
