Pia's trip report........to ZoZo's :)

Post by Pia »

OK - not exactly but I couldn't resist

Anyway, first off, thanks everyone for the good wishes, I had a great birthday :)

As you may know I asked for help with dinner selections as it was our first time to ZoZo's and I must say it was a nice experience and I can see why it would be such a favourite with everyone here.

We arrived to find a VERY nice bottle of wine awaiting us from a good friend (very nice present) and were seated on the railing and although it was alittle overcast the view was great.

So onto the food.....hubby and I split the fried calamari and the fresh fettucine with crab appitizer - both very good. For our main dishes hubby had the osso bucco (sp?) which was delish (so tender it just fell apart) and I had the lobster tail with crab - also very good, but dare I say, not as good as Morgans Mango's or the Lime Inn's, - don't get me wrong it was very good, just not outstanding. Now for dessert, a fabulous chocolate torte that was warm and gooey in the center and it came with just enough ice cream ...yuuuum

We finished with a great 20 year old tawney port that was soooooo good :)

So (I'm not good at writing "trip reports" so I'm going to finish now :) ) thanks everyone for all of your suggestions, and for anyone thinking of eating there I would say it was very enjoyable and we will go back as we want to try more of their dishes as they all sounded very very good - view and service fabulous, food very good.

I will say the only negative (if you can call it that) would have been (and I don't know if this is done or not, or how you would go about finding out these things without sounding alittle "cheap" for the want of a different word) we tipped alittle over 20% and included the bottle of wine that was my birthday present from my friend, only to find out the next day that she had also tipped 20% (they asked her if she would like to include a gratuity when she called them)
so, all in all, they received a 40+% tip on the bottle of wine - I just thought somehow the manager would have found a way to mention this to us - but maybe it's just me :)

Thanks everyone

Luv Pia

Pia....Happy Belated Birthday :!:

I also ordered the lobster tail at ZoZo's and was not overly impressed.

We have done the wine thing several times, for friends and family. I am appalled you were not told that the wine was "all taken care of"....it is a cheap trick which tends to leave a bad taste in one's mouth.

Happy to hear you had a nice day.....mia

Thanks for the report, Mia. ZoZo's is one of the places we have not tried, but are planning to dine there when we go in a couple of months.

I agree with you that they should somehow have let you know about the gratuity having been taken care of for you. That was part of your gift, and it's just like they took one of your presents away from you. Not a really bad goof, but pretty rude, in my opinion.
Thanks again, and I hope you had a wonderful day!

Okay, apparently I need to get out more, or just find more generous friends :o I don't think I would include the price of a gift bottle into my total when tipping. I can think of one occasion where someone did pre-arrange a bottle of champagne for us and I didn't factor that in - I feel rude

Thanks for the review Pia. We'll have to try the calamari in May.

Shame, shame on ZoZo's. This means that the price of your gift of a bottle of wine was displayed to you. How tacky! They should be ashamed!
