Dept. of Tourism note on Hurricane Earl, curfew time, etc.

Post by Anthony »

Updated 8.30.10 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern

As we finalize our preparations for Hurricane Earl to pass near the Territory this evening and tomorrow morning, the Department of Tourism would like to provide the following tourism update with measures that have been put in place for guest safety.

As announced, airports and seaports across the Territory have been temporarily closed. We encourage visitors to check with their airlines regarding timing for resumption of service and plans to re-route passengers.

For the safety of residents and visitors alike, a curfew will be implemented this evening in both the St. Thomas/St. John and St. Croix districts. For the St. Thomas/St. John district, a curfew will be in effect from 6 p.m. this evening until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31. For the St. Croix district, a curfew will be in place beginning at midnight through 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday August 31.

We ask that during these times guests remain on-property as the curfew will be strictly enforced. Further updates will be issued after the passing of Hurricane Earl. We encourage our visitors to remain safely indoors. We will be communicating further updates as the situation warrants.
