STJ Animal Care Center is in Dire Straits

Post by TouristTrapCheryl »

.
The St John Animal Care Center (ACC)
makes St John a better place for people who visit St John
as well as for us and our animals. That's why I want to let
members of this forum know The ACC needs help right away.

The ACC just lost government funding and without
immediate help from the private sector they will have
to close within weeks.
Immediate donations will keep
the shelter open while they secure a permanent
replacement for the government funds they just lost.

A person does not have to be an animal lover to have
an otherwise perfect vacation tarnished by the sight
of sick and injured stray animals abandoned in the
streets. You don't see that on St John thanks solely
to the work the ACC does.

DONATE A DOLLAR ONLINE:
http://www.stjacc.org/help.html

IS THERE A FUND-RAISER YOUR SHELTER DOES
THAT WE COULD DO DOWN HERE FOR THE ACC?
TELL ME ABOUT IT!

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks so much -c

(I am not affiliated with the ACC so if you have
specific questions please contact them directly
through their website: stjacc.org)

* Ten years ago packs of feral dogs used to roam
St John endangering people and pets. The efforts of the
ACC saved those dogs and St John from that dangerous
and tragic situation. The ACC's free spay-neuter
program has kept the stray animal population on
St John under control, a nearly impossible feat to
accomplish on an island. Making that accomplishment
even more heroic is the fact that The ACC is a no-kill
shelter. The food, water and shelter they provide the
many cat stations across this island mean what feral
cat population we do have is healthy and safe.
That's the kind of work the ACC does for animals
that also makes St John a better place for all people,
St John "livors" and St John visitors alike.

Cheryl- so eloquently put- thank you! I have donated twice, posted on FB and emailed everyone I know. My 10 year old daughter is asking for donations in lieu of birthday presents at her party in a few weeks. I really, really hope they make it through this. I'll ask around here and brainstorm some fundraising ideas. One other forumite suggested that local restaurants possibly have a special ACC dish (priced accordingly, so it doesn't hit them too much) that gives proceeds to the ACC. Possibility, maybe? Will keep thinking.

Again, thanks for the post....

I think a tee shirt with a really cool design would be nice. I don't really like generic St. John tee shirts...bar shirts are fun, but I would be interested in that for my kids or for me. It would be nice if it was a little quirky and have an island feel..

The only thing about kid tee shirts is the cut on them is sometimes bad. For that reason I usually buy xtra small adults instead of kid size, larger kid sizes tend to be really wide.
