St. John ACC is in trouble
I know you all are big animal lovers and have been supporters of the ACC over the years. It looks like they are in big trouble. It would be tragic to see them close. They have been such a huge asset to this island. If there is anything anyone can do to help them, please try! If they don't get help, they are going to have to close at the end of THIS month.

Make that three of us - on FB and donation made. Jimg20 your comment was spot on - I can easily give up a painkiller or two to help save the ACC. Such a great cause and I want to make sure SO's two little girls can go back on their next visit and walk more dogs.
Thanks for the link.

I just gave $$$ as well as I know first hand what great work the ACC does.
BUT I have to mention that they really need to get a better handle on their finances. Sounding the alarm when they have three weeks left before they close for good is not a good practice and will end up closing them in the long run.

I'd imagine the hardest thing to supply on an island would be all the food. At the shelter I volunteer at we're luckily close enough to a dog food manufacturer that they supply us with a lot of food. Wal Mart also has been very generous over the years with overstocks/ripped bags etc. The source of supply on St. John is just not there I'd guess, unless they're well connected to the grocery stores. Vet bills can be high too for spays/neuters which are so important.
A grant writer is pretty essential since that's where a lot of money comes from. Need to have somebody who can constantly be on the lookout for any funding, and that's a time consuming thing.
We always try to stop in when on St. John, it's such a worthy cause.
