Murano vs highlander?

Post by XOXO »

Does anyone have either vehicle? I am interested in any input you have. We are going to trade our armada next week for one of them. We are leaning toward the highlander.

I have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid. 43,000 miles later and it is still a fun ride. Have never had any problems with it. Oh, maybe that one time 2 years ago in long term parking at the airport when one family member (we won't mention names) left the back seat overhead light on when getting out, so 2 weeks later we had to get the security guy to recharge the battery! Our Toyota dealership has been great as far as maintenance and I'll probably be driving it for many more years.

We looked at the 2008 Highlander & they changed the middle seat. Really bad move. It only fits 2 & you can pullout this stupid plastic thing to put in the middle for a third. Sure, not even a kids bum would fit on it. You get a third row seat (hence the split seat to get in the back)which is not comfortable at all. There is even a commercial about the crazy mini seat with Howie Long comparing it to another SUV. Maybe the new ones no longer do this. We ended up with a Miztubishi Endeavor, great SUV for a much lower price.

We looked at many SUVs this past winter before finally making a purchase.

The tie for us was a between a Murano and a Hyundai Santa Fe. We ended up with the Santa Fe because it was just a little bigger and the price they gave us was crazy good. We are pleased with our decision and I had NEVER considered a Hyundai until driving one as a rental car.

My brother purchased a Murano a few months before and loves it too. It's a very comfortable, smooth, ride! I was another one that didn't like the Highlander seating!!

Happy Vehicle Shopping...it's always stressful to me!

Thank you! We got the highlander today. What I really wanted was a car but, because we live in Iowa, I have to have all wheel drive. We loved how both the murano and highlander drive and handle like a car AND have AWD.

We really don't need the 3rd row seating or that middle seat in the second row. It is nice to have if we need it--but we will rarely use it. We have the 3rd row folded and we will leave it that way unless we have extra passengers (same for the middle seat).

We looked at smaller AWD SUV's but there wasn't enough leg room for our 6 foot teenagers. The highlander got the edge because we can add a hitch and haul or boat or jet ski's.

I love it! I used the blue tooth to make calls. Fun!

And to make my day just a little more perfect I git the iPhone 4 today!
