Anyone else arriving July 5th - during the parade??

We thought we would miss the madness of the parade by arriving on Jul 5th - DANGIT! Nope! We LOVE the parade and the fireworks and the middle-aged majorettes! Seems that coming in on the 5th is turning out to be a little tricky - picking up the rental car, meeting the villa rep, etc. Since everybody's closed! I think we'll just sit downtown and drink!!!!!!

Yes we are too! Did the same thing as you, booked thinking we would miss the chaos of the carnival, but found out it will be celebrated on the 5th! We could not get a rental car, since everyone is closed. Will get our car on the 6th. Not sure if we will spend more time on St thomas and get a later ferry, or rough it and spend time at the carnival. Would love to spend time at the carnival, just not with luggage. We are gonna see how we feel when we arrive. We are on Vacation !!!so just gonna go with the flow.

We will be arriving on the island on July 3rd. We had planned a tour of St Thomas on Monday, but now we will have to see if that can be rescheduled so we can spend some time at the carnival. Any tips on what to do? First timers.

We are arriving the day after the parade. It was cheaper to fly in that day and I had also heard that it was sometimes difficult to get a car during the 4th of July celebrations.

Pia - will you be manning the info booth during the celebration on the 5th? I would love to stop by and join the MANY forum peeps that've met you! Do you think many restaurants will be open after the parade? I know Quiet Mon is open - but was wondering about the Beach Bar or Woodys. Have a great day!
