Super short trip report

Post by Ty311USVI »

Good Morning! Just got back from 2 weeks in paradise. We stayed at Maho Bay Camps the entire length of our trip. I really enjoyed the camaraderie of the camps and the amazing views we had from A10 of Big Maho, nothing compares. We saw turtles every morning and early evening feeding on the sea grass about 100 yards from our tent. We brought our 1 year old with us and while some thought we were crazy, it was the best decision, and we look forward to many more trips with her in the future. She was very well behaved for her age, and completely made the whole experience for myself and my wife. We didn't do a lot of relaxing. Chasing her down the beach and catching her just before she face planted in the water was my main job, besides building sand castles so she could smash them. She absolutely loved the beaches and most were very well suited for the little ones. Hawksnest became a new favorite because of all the kids for her to interact with. As always enjoyed the locals and the great conversations we had with countless people. I am left with only good feelings and great memories of a vacation that still seems like a dream. As this was our 2nd trip in as many years we consider ourselves lucky to be able to travel at such a young age. This trip inspires and leaves me wanting more from life. It will be some time before we come back as we want to explore more of the world. But in the mean time, I hope for St. John that Maho is spared the developers scalpel. It is an amazing place and there is none like it unless that is changed by humans, and it becomes some cookie cutter place on the map. Good luck St. John and we hope to see you soon!

Great report and kudos to you for not letting a child hold you back: but instead she lifts you up.

I enjoyed your trip report. We have been taking our daughter to different beaches since she was 1 1/2 years old. She has always enjoyed the beach (including 3 trips to stay at Maho Campground). We are going back to St. John this summer and it will be the first time that we haven't stayed at Maho (finally moved up to a villa). I'm sure will we miss Maho, but plan on going there at least for the day.
