Quick question bout Guavaberry

Post by IslandElle »

Hi! Hoping for a quick answer as I am about to head out to buy all our meat for out trip on Tuesday. Does anyone know if the cottages at Guava Berry on VG have grills? I need to decide what type of meals to make that week we are there and I have looked all around their site but there is no mention of it. I will do a search here but that search function hates me! lol

Thanks!

Did you check to make sure you can bring meat from the US into the BVI's I know there isn't any problem to bring it down for the USVI

It seems there is a meat ban going into the BVI's. I guess this was a total rookie mistake. Thanks for pointing it out!

Hi Elle
When we stayed at Guavaberry 2 years ago, they had charcoal grills. Even though you can't bring your own meat, you can get some at the grocery store. The Guavaberry store on-site had some frozen meat and other basic provisions. Guavaberry also had some frozen meals for two people made by Ms Penguin - we loved the curried chicken and it was a lot of food. Just heat and eat - so easy after a day on the beach.

If you have a particular marinade you like, you could bring the spices with you, then buy some oil and limes or lemons on island. We make a great marinade with Cruz Bay Grill Rub, lime, onion, and olive oil. I usually bring some spices with me for basic cooking. Guavaberry didn't have any spices in the units, like some villas on STJ have.

Have a great trip! We loved Virgin Gorda. Be sure to go snorkeling at Savannah Bay and Nail Bay. Also catch the Jumby shoe at Leverick if they have it on Friday night. Good food for a reasonable price and great show.
