A Little Humor
Well, while I'm still in the paste mode I thought I'd post a couple of more shots of some of the oddities that we've come across. Again, I hope you enjoy them. Our usual routine while on STJ is snorkel/beach early and then to wander around either by car or foot. We really do tend to end up off the beaten trail pretty often.
A couple more from Drunk Bay. Sometimes when you go there, there are hundreds of coral sculptures, other times not so many. They constantly change, get wiped out by the wind and surf, then somebody[?] builds more.Sometimes they are huge and up high on rocks. Everybody asks, "Who builds them?". Can't say that I know, though real early one morning we saw 2 ladies with big trash bags picking up debris that is constantly getting washed up by the violent surf.

This gives a little perspective as to the time somebody puts in.
One of the smaller ones

Another smaller one. Notice how whoever makes them seems to be into anatomy.

This is the only parking meter I'd ever seen on STJ. It was on the road up Majestic Mile
This is Jeannie's island car.

She seems to be making some kind of political statement

I might be pushing Anthony's envelope here, but it was just part of the car.
Anyway, like I said yesterday, I've got an awful lot of pics from the past several years, both mainstream and not. I hope this not only brightens your day, but also encourages you to just get out and wander around the island.Don't just take a ride, but also take a walk. And if you really want to get to know the island, don't just sit at a table and converse with your spouse, or group that you came with. Sit at the bar and get a little more of the flavor of the locals and other visitors like yourselves. You may get a treasure map of new places to go see! Peace! JT

Adrea, it's funny you say that you've been ther 2 years and haven't really explored that much. You wouldn't believe how mant St. Johnians say the same thing. Many hardly ever get to the beach, and if they do it's usually to the same one. St. John Ruth and Ron virtually never get over to Coral Bay. Our friends Chris and Barr rarely explore; they're both too busy working. She is part of Syzergy, the art gallery behind Skinny's and he works construction, sometimes 7 days a week. This past trip in November/December I worked with Chris and helped him get caught up so as he could take a day off without feeling guilty. We all ended up at Francis, with quite a few other residents playing hooky, and had a great day. We dragged Barr down to Drunk Bay and Lameshur on another day, for her 1st time seeing the "Coral People". The artist in her went nuts! She has since gone back with nippers in hand, cutting back the sticker bushes around the salt pond heading to Drunk. I'm hoping that she'll make the walk over to Europa Bay one of these days when she gets back to Lameshur. Though definitely not a swimming beach, [very rough surf], the walk from Lameshur is pretty nice and the "violent tranquility" of Europa Bay is is something pretty cool. I doubt that you'd ever run into anyone else there. Now get off your butt!
