You did not stump me this week, Captain.

Great pelican shot. Mine always come out blurry.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Haha. I had a pelican dive into the water about 10' away from me, one day when I was snorleling at Francis. Scared me half to death! My wife saw it all unfold from her spot on the beach, and was laughing hysterically at my reaction! Has that ever happened to any of you?

I think the pelicans in general but the birds at Frances in particular love to scare the bejesus out of the tourist there!! I swear they do it just to get a rise out of us!! I believe they get a chuckle out of it. I love the pelicans and the Laughing Gulls.
Speaking of Laughing Gulls, when do they arrive back on STJ? We were there a year ago right now and there were no Laughing Gulls to be found. Hugo, when are they expected back? I hope they are back in May.

They'll be here soon--usually last week of March for the early arrivals, in full-force by mid-April.

Seeing your pelican, I just had to post mine from June. This guy kept diving near me while I was snorkeling, so I calmly swam over. This was as close as my nerves would let me get because, as you can see, he started really giving me the evil eye! I rolled onto my back so I could fend him off with my flippers if needed!
