Post by phyl »

Not that I will need my cell phone, but I was wondering if I will get cell coverage with AT+T in St John??
Thanks. 8)

Our regular cell and iphone have worked well (calls plus internet) most places on St John with no extra charges. Last trip (10/09) we did not always have ATT service on Bordeaux Mt... charges from other carriers, ie. international roaming, were many, many dollars. With the iphone do read the info on international travel (even though you are in US Territory) carefully. ATT did favorably heip us resolve this matter - with the warning that this would be the only time. They also advise calling them to let them know when and where you are going.

This might be of interest too

I've had great reception with my ATT iPhone on STT and STJ. Sometimes on Trunk and Cinnamon, and Mahogany on STT, I pick up one of the BVI towers so I just turn it off for a little while and take a break. :-)

When we used our AT&T phone this month I noticed that sometimes it said "BVI" on the phone and we did not use it then. Once (while at Cinnamon Bay) it said "digi cell" and we used it, we got charged a small fee (it was a brief call). Otherwise we used it only when it said "AT&T" and it ws fine. Hope that helps.

Yes, I appreciate all your input. I dont have an iphone...just a regular old phone with ATT service. when we were in STX a few yrs back I got great service on the island with no charges. I did call ATT first so I think I will do that before we go. I dont think I will need my phone but my 2 sons may have different ideas. If we get charged, I may have to tell them to turn them off....no texting for 9 days will not be an easy task for them! 8)
