Puppy's First Haircut

Post by chicagoans »

OK I'm one of those people who didn't want a dog, but now I'm crazy about ours so I'm going to post pictures.

Hendrix the kooky Labradoodle had an issue with matting when his adult coat started growing in (common with this breed.) Please don't think we're bad owners! We tried like crazy to brush him but it didn't help. The pro groomers told us that bathing him made it worse. (Ooops, we were giving him a bath every week.)

Anyway, he had his first 'big boy' haircut. We held off because of the cold but finally had to do it. It's nice to see his eyes... but where is my dog? He is still just as lovable, but I miss my muppet!

(I probably don't have to label 'before' and 'after'!)

This is just a couple weeks after my daughter got 10" of her pretty blonde hair cut off for Locks for Love. sigh...

Awwwww! We have a cockapoo, and it's the same story with them. I like our Abby's hair long, to where she looks like a stuffed animal. A few times yearly, we have to shave her nekkid and start over, though.
And yes, baths make the matting MUCH worse!
He's doing a really alert "sit" for a pup!
Oh, and as a dog lover, if you haven't read "The Art of Racing in the Rain" yet, you should :)

That looks like a Weimerainer now!

Cute pup.. It's always funny when you shave a pup and you can finally see their eyes.

Whoa. Are you sure that's the same dog? Major transformation.

I'm waiting for spring to break out my new "Furminator" for our beagle. He sheds like crazy and this instrument is supposed to really help with that. But, you need a place where you can easily clean up the gobs and gobs of fur that will come off and I'm hoping my garage will be the right spot. It's just too darn cold to be out there doing that right now though.

By the way, I used to be one of those people who didn't want a dog either but, this little guy has completely stolen my heart. I absolutely cannot imagine life without him. I think he feels the same way :)

He looks fantastic!
Imagine how different he feels.

Lori, yes she did! She'd been asking for a long time and I kept putting it off. Finally I realized it's her hair. (And through the whole process she kept reminding me of that!)

Here is the moment... I think she looks gorgeous!

Seriously, I had to look at the pictures of your dog, dogs? He looks completely different. Is he cold?

Your daughter is beautiful. Good for her!
